Earlier this year, one of the greatest high school 4x100 races of all-time went down in Houston.
A high school national record that had stood since 1998 was broken not once but twice in the matter of 0.73 seconds at the Victor Lopez Classic.
Two teams from Texas -- from two different cities -- were a part of that history.
And yet, while the Duncanville (TX) boys did not win the race, clocking a time of 39.65 seconds to finish second behind Atascocita's new national record of 38.92, the Dallas area team still made a major statement.
The boys surpassed Fort Worth Wyatt's former mark of 39.76 in a blink of an eye. That group consisted of Caden Durham, Dakorien Moore, Brayden Williams and Ayson Theus.
This past month, MileSplit Texas' William Grundy sat down with the record-breaking Duncanville boys to discuss their performance, their past history and what's to come this season.
"We all feel like this will be the year," Moore said. "We could have done it last year. ...this year getting faster, we knew it was already getting done."
