Tyler Grant of Conroe Grand Oaks has never competed at the Texas UIL Track and Field State Championships.
This morning, he changed that by throwing a lifetime best 192-5 in the discus competition to win the Region 2-6A title and will be competing in the 2024 UIL Track and Field State Championships.
Grant must have been feeling good going into the Regional Championships as his personal best before today was 182-11.25. He bested that by nearly 10 feet and improved from a third place finish at his district meet with a 158-1 toss, and a runner-up finish at his area meet after throwing 168-4.
The Grand Oaks junior could be ascending back towards where he was in mid-March. He won the Texas A&M Bluebonnet High School Invitational with a 182.11.50 toss and followed that up with a win at the Bridgeland Relays with a 182-5 throw.
