It has been some kind of season for Boerne Champion sophomore Elizabeth Leachman.

With multiple accomplishments, records and headlines in the longest distances on the track, she continued to improve in the shorter distance races (800m and 1,600m) while doing so.

At the UIL 5A REGION 4 championship meet on Saturday, Leachman notched another top performance when she ran a 4:37.17 in the 1,600m for the win.

Despite the accolades in the 3,200m, two-mile and 5,000m distances, it was the 1,600m where she won a Texas UIL 5A state title last year.

Leachman now owns a Texas No. 2 all-time 1,600m performance, sitting behind the Natalie Cook's (Flower Mound) 2018 magical season when she ran 4:36.96.
