Sotomayor's Elijah Hernandez Wins the 6A Boys 400m
This was my eighth straight year at the Region IV-5A/6A track and field championships and it has never failed to entertain and impress. There were many amazing performances, including 12 meet records, and there were favorites who had injury or circumstance prevent them from moving on to the State meet. With prelims and only two guaranteed spots into the State meet every small mistake is magnified and becomes difficult to overcome since the competition is at such a high level. The athletes handled the change in schedule from afternoon Saturday finals to morning with aplomb. Scroll through the pages for each classification.
