UIL 5A Girls 800m

This race featured some of the top names in distance running in Texas and the nation with Lucas Lovejoy senior Kailey Littlefield attempting to win a fourth straight UIL 5A State title in the 800m while Isabel Conde De Frankenberg of Cedar Park and Elizabeth Leachman of Boerne Champion entered as the top challengers to her title.

The race lived up to the billing as Conde De Frankenberg dueled Littlefield over the final lap to take her first State title in the event. Conde De Frankenberg posted a winning time of 2:07.10 and used a nice surge around the first curve on the second lap to take the lead. From there, she ran strong all the way to the finish line and never gave Littlefield a chance to run her down.

Littlefield led through the first half of the race through the first 400m hitting the line in 1:04, but Conde De Frankenberg had a little too much speed for her in the end. Littlefield settled for second place with a time of 2:08.19. Lake Creek's Hailey Johnson ran well en route to a second straight bronze medal finish with a time of 2:10.29, over a second and a half faster than last year.

UIL 5A Girls 1600m

Boerne Champion's Elizabeth Leachman continues to re-write the record books. She won the UIL 5A Girls 1600m going away in a new meet record time of 4:41.36 giving her a second straight title in the event and two State titles on the day to go along with her win in the 3200m.

Cedar Park's Isabel Conde De Frankenberg and Ki Rendon of White Settlement Brewer had a good duel for the runner-up spot. In the end, Conde De Frankenberg ran three seconds faster than Rendon on the final lap to take the silver in 4:50.07 while Rendon settled for third with a time of 4:53.47.

Conde De Frankenberg won the 800m earlier in the meet and finished her career with individual State titles in the 800m, 1600m and 3200m.
