Jasmine Moore Earns Trip To Paris And Second Olympic Team

Mansfield Lake Ridge graduate and former Florida Gator Jasmine Moore won the U.S. Olympic Trials triple jump competition last evening.

The win secures her spot on Team USA's Paris Olympic track and field team.

Competing against Keturah Orji who she looked up to when she was in high school and the American record-older Tori Franklin, Moore was able to rely on her abilities along with some prayers, "that one was straight prayer, honestly," she said in a post competition interview.

Moore who made her second US Olympic team with the win not only went head-to-head with huge symbols who she looked up to, but the greatest-ever Americans in the sport in record holder Franklin and Orji who has won US titles. 

It came down to Moore's final two jumps. Trailing Orji, she popped a 46 feet and 9 1/2 jump to take the lead in the competition.

In high school, Moore won four long jump and four triple jump UIL 5A state titles and set a Texas state record of 44-10 in the triple jump. She also made the U20 National team in 2017 and 2018.

After transferring to the University of Florida from Georgia, Moore won seven NCAA championships. Professionally, she made the 2021 Tokyo Olympic team and the 2022 Eugene World Championship team.

She will compete in the long jump competition later in the week.
