McKayla Childs competes at the 2023 SPC Championships
Houston Christian's McKayla Childs battled pneumonia for 3 weeks in September and missed several opportunities to run the 5K. Although she owns the SPC's best time in the 2M this season, the SPC State Championship runs at 5K for both boys and girls.
An avid reader who favors dystopian literature, the course at Norbuck in Dallas is perfect: partially flat with an imposing hill that treks through the woods.
