Class of 2025 Players
No. 1 Keelon Russell (Duncanville) QB -
Russell is the No. 1 ranked football player in the state and the third best in the country. The six-foot three 175 pound five-star quarterback is the second best QB in the class and is committed to Alabama and is looking to lead Duncanville to a third consecutive state title.
Russell ran track for the first time last spring an he was impactful on the Duncanville runner-up team finish at the UIL 6A state meet. He ran only had two open races on his MileSplit profile at 50.29 and 50.33. Russell would eventually run 47-second splits on their 4x400 relay that ran a TX No. 2 ranked 3:11.50 that earned a second place finish at the UIL 6A state meet.
Russell is expected to graduate early and enroll in college in the spring.
No. 2 Dakorien Moore (Duncanville) - WR -
Moore is the No. 2 ranked footballer in the state and fourth best in the country. The five-foot eleven and 182 pound five-start wide receiver is the top WR in the country and is committed to Oregon and is another Duncanville Panther looking to add a third straight state championship.
Last spring, Moore was outstanding on the track. He ran open times of 10.40, 21-7, and long jumped 24-7.
Moore also ran legs on the Duncanville 4x100 relay that ran 39.47 (US No. 3 all-time), 1:22.25 (US No. 1 all-time), and their 3:11.50 4x400 relay.
Moore is expected to graduate early and enroll in college in the spring.
No. 3 Devin Sanchez (North Shore) - CB -
Sanchez is the third ranked football player in the state and ranks No. 6 nationally in the class of 2025. The six-foot two and 170 pound corner back the best in his position nationally and is committed to Ohio State.
The five-star is also legit on the track. He had season best runs in 2024 of 10.69 and 21.73. He also helped lead North Shore to the US No. 4 ranked all-time 4x100 relay performances with their 39.79 and 1:24 in the 4x200 relay.
No. 4 Jonah Williams (Galveston Ball) - S
Williams is the fourth ranked player in Texas and ranks No. 8 in the country. The five-star Ball product is a six-foot three safety who weight 203 pound is the best safety in the country and he is committed to Texas.
Williams only has a couple of stats on his MileSplit profile because he spends most of his spring playing baseball; he is as good and highly ranked in baseball as he is in football.
That hasn't stopped him from producing a 22.24 run in the 200m at the UIL 5A - District 18.
No. 5 Ty Haywood (Denton Ryan) - OT
Haywood ranks No. 6 in Texas and is 20th overall player in the country. The Ryan offensive tackle is the fourth best OT nationally and he is a five-star player committed to Alabama.
He threw the shot and discus the past two years and has 58-6 and 119-3 personal best throws. Haywood was fourth at UIL 5A - Region 1 last year.
No. 6 Kaliq Lockett (Garland Sachse) - WR
Lockett is a six-foot two and 175 pound wide receiver from Sachse. The five-star pass-catcher ranks No. 7 in Texas, 22nd nationally, and is the fourth best WR in the country. Lockett is committed to Texas.
His MileSplit profile shows personal bests of 23.08, 55.38, and 20-11.5 in the long jump.
No. 7 Lance Jackson (Texarkana Pleasant Grove) - DL
Jackson is another five-star player in the state of Texas. The East Texas product is a six-foot five and 260 pound defensive lineman and is the eight ranked player in Texas with a No. 25 national ranking for the class of 2025 and he is the fourth best pass rusher in the country.
The Texas commit has personal bests of 107-4 in the discuss and 47-5 in the shot put.
No. 8 Michael Terry III (San Antonio Alamo Heights) - WR
Terry is a four-star player listed as an athlete. College coaches are still deciding on whether to use him as a corner back or a wide receiver. He is six-foot three and 217 pounds and the No. 11 player in Texas and 43rd nationally. As an all-around athlete, he is the top in the country at the position.
On the track, Terry has also showed his versatile athletic abilities. He has personal bests of 10.83, 22.78, 49.45, and 6-4 in the high jump. Terry is currently undecided on his college commitment, but a decision is expected soon.
No. 9 Dorian Brew (Conroe) - CB
Brew is a four-star player committed to Oregon. He is a six-foot and 200 pound corner back ranked 12th in Texas, sixth best CB, and ranked 49th overall nationally.
Track and field comes pretty naturally to Brew who has parents who were high level performers in their own rights. Brew's father ran at LSU and Mom competed at Ohio State.
Brew has helped lead Conroe relays to 40.75 and 1:25 performances in 2024. Individually, he ran 10.75 and 21.79.
No. 10 Kade Phillips (Fort Bend Hightower) CB
Phillips is a six foot and a half corner back with a four-star rating. He is the 13th ranked player in Texas, seventh best CB, and No. 55 overall nationally. Phillips is committed to LSU, although he was scheduled to visit Texas this past weekend, it doesn't look like that visit happened.
He is also a star in track and field. In his junior year, he ran 21.50 and 49.74 on the track. He is one of the top long jumpers in the country with five meets when he leaped over 24-feet. He finished third at the UIL 6A state meet.
No. 11 Elijah Barnes (Dallas Skyline) - LB
Also known as Elijah Bo Barnes, the six-foot two four star linebacker is ranked No. 14 in the state, fourth best LB, and 67th best player nationally. He is committed to play at Texas next year.
He only ran two track meets last year, but the last one resulted in a 10.96 personal best and he has a 23.15 best in the 200m from his sophomore season.
No. 12 Andrew Marsh (Katy Jordan) - WR
Marsh is listed as a six-foot one four-star wide receiver committed to Michigan. He is the 15th ranked Texas player in the class of 2025, the 10th best WR, and No. 70th in the nation.
The Katy Jordan senior is a high jumper and quarter-miler in track and field. He has personal bests of 6-4 and 50.24.
No. 13 Charles Ross (North Shore) - LB
Ross is a six-foot one four star line backer. The LSU commit is ranked No. 18 in Texas, the fourth best LB in the country, and 80th in the nation.
Last year, Ross was out of sight on the track with only one race over 11.0, which was the first one of the season. He finished with a 10.36 personal best and a fifth place finish at the UIL 6A state meet.
He also ran on the fourth fastest all-time 4x100 relay with North Shore's 39.79 season best in 2024.
No. 14 Daylan McCutcheon (Lucas Lovejoy) - WR
The former Florida State commit has reassessed his future and is not committed to Texas. McCutcheon is a five-foot eleven four-star wide receiver who ranks No. 19 in Texas, the 13th best WR in the country, and 95th over all player nationally.
Throughout his high school career at Lovejoy, he has racked up personal best of 11.54, 22.57, and 22-feet in the long jump.
No. 15 Kiotti Armstrong (Jasper) - TE
Armstrong is a six-foot six tight end. The four-star Texas A&M commit is the 15th rated player in Texas and No. 71 nationally.
He only threw once, which was at the UIL 4A - District 19 meet last year and he went 42-3.75 in the shot put.
16 Kelshaun Johnson (Hitchcock) - TE
Johnson is a five-foot eleven wide receiver. The four-star Texas A&M commit is the 26th best player in the state, the 21st rated wide receiver, and the 174th best player in the country.
Johnson could be an elite track star if he wasn't already secured in football. After the fall, he also plays on the basketball team. Somehow, he still finds time to train enough to run 10:49 (w) and 10.74 (w) to finish second UIL 3A state meet. He also long jumps 21-8.75.
17 Deyjhon Pettaway (Katy Paetow) - S
Pettaway is a five-foot ten inch safety. The fourstar Texas A&M commit is the 34th best player in Texas, the 24th best safety nationally, and the 259th best player in the country.
On the track, Pettaway is just as formidable. He has a 10.59 wind-aided personal best in the 100m and a 21.86
18 Tory Blaylock (Atascocita) RB
Blaylock is a five-foot ten inch running back. The four-star and Oklahoma commit is ranked 41 in the state, the 20th best running back nationally, and the 295th best player in the country.
Blaylock is in the track and field record books after last year's track season. He was the lead-off runner on the Atascocita 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams. Blaylock's 4x100 team broke the National Record and became the first high school team to ever run under 39-seconds with their time of 38.92. He also ran a 10.56 personal record in the 100m.
19 Tanook Hines (Spring Dekaney) WR
Hines is a six-foot one inch wide receiver at Dekaney. The four-star Southern California commit is the 52nd best player in Texas, the 53rd best wide receiver in the country and the 379th best player overall.
Hines' ratings might be underestimated and USC thinks so. Last spring, Hines' track season helped his stock rise as he had an astounding season. He ran a 10.45 personal best in the 100m, just missing out on the state meet when he was third at the loaded Region 2-6A Championships. He did qualify for state in the 200m when he ran 21.07 to win the region and then went for a 20.71 for a runner-up finish at state.
20 Daylon Singleton (DeSoto) WR
Singleton is a five-foot ten inch wide receiver at DeSoto. The four-star wide receiver SMU commit is the 47th best player in Texas, the 46th best wide receiver in the country, and the 320th best player in the country.
Singleton is a 200m specialist. He had five races under 21.5 last year including a 21.13 PR. He finished third at the UIL 2-6A Regional, just missing out on qualifying to the state meet.
