Samantha Ennin is the No. 2 ranked girls triple jumper in the country
The indoor track and field season has officially started in full force. Yes, the month of December had a couple of meets and saw some kids get things initiated, but after the Texas A&M meet, it is definitely on.
We are looking at the triple jump event for this week's improvements. It is very early and it is a lot to ask of athletes to have improved in their first competition, but there are some girls and boys are off to hot starts.
Key things to take not of so far are the state leaders on both sides.
First, the boys, it's Jayden Thrower (Mont Belvieu Barbers Hill) decided to take the trip East across I-10 to Baton Rouge and compete at the LSU meet instead of the Texas A&M meet. All he did was pop a 51-11.25 jump to crack the TX all-time top five. He is the US N0. 1 ranked triple jumper so far this indoor season.
On the girls side, it's is Samantha Ennin (Plano John Paul II) who competed in the long jump this past weekend in College Station, but went ahead and dropped a Texas all-time top 10 jump of her own with a 41-11.5 jump last mont at the North Texas Showcase meet. Whitney Robinson (DeSoto) is also over 41 feet; she jumped 41-3.25 this past weekend, but also went jumped 41-8 at the North Texas Jumps Showcase. Both are ranked No. 2 and No. 3 nationally for the indoor track and field season.
