Watch LIVE Guide: Generations Park Inv.

Generations Park isn't the biggest track and field invitation in the state, but is one of the best in terms of elite marks. It is intentionally a small meet, but it is an invite only meet, making it pretty exclusive. Some of the Houston area's best track and field teams annually venture out to race, jump, throw, and vault.

On the girls and boys sides, there are both UIL state individual and team champions, as well as other relays and individuals who will produce some of the best marks so far this season.

Here are some of the top individual athlete we will be on the lookout for.

Girls

Brooke Lloyd (Humble Summer Creek)

Lloyd is an all-world type of talent. Literally, she can run just about anything. We knew she could sprint as her 23.68 and 52.76 capabilities have shown. However she also displayed her fitness two weeks ago in the 800m at the Zoe Simpson Invitational when she went 2:17 for the win.

The national leader in the indoor 400m is competing in the 200m this weekend. Despite her newly exhibited 800m ability, she still has the sprint speed we've come to know. Lloyd ran 7.66 indoors in the 60m and 23.64 in the 200m.

 Mia Maxwell (Humble Atascocita)

Mia will compete in the 100m this week and the triple jump. She ran a 11.56 PR last season in the 100m and was third at the 2024 Region 3-6A meet just missing out on the state meet. However, in the triple jump, she did punch her ticket to Austin. She placed fifth with her 39-11.75 competition best jump.

The indoor season so far has been a Mia Maxwell showcase. She has blasted several top 60m performances including her 7.24 PR at the 117th Millrose Games against the nations's best. She ranks No. 4 in the country in the 60m.

Mariah Maxwell (Humble Atascocita)

While it appears Mia Maxell so far has leaned towards the 60m/100m and the triple jump, her twin sister Mariah seems to run more 200s and long jumps. Mariah will compete in both of those at Generations.

She has an outdoor best of 23.82 in the 200m and a 19-9 in the long jump. Indoors, she ran 7.44 and 23.34 while adding a 19-6.5 in the LJ.

While the Maxwell's don't seem to mirror each other's events at the moment, the still look a like and their standings almost reflect the same. While Mia ranks fourth nationally in the 60m, Mariah ranks third in the 200m.

Kyaliah Davis (Klein Forest)

While Davis hasn't broken out just yet in 2025, keep waiting for it, because it is coming. The wait might not be much longer.

She has run 11.95 in the 100m and 24.33 this year. That would usually be supreme for most, but we are talking about Davis. She has run 11.88, 23.99, 54.72, and has helped Klein Forest relays dominate over the years.

Davis will race in the 200m as well as the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

Janiyah Mc Donald (Klein Forest)

McDonald is another one of the top sprinters in the state who hasn't qualified individually to the state meet. Don't look for that to last too much longer.

The Klein Forest junior ran 11.63, 24.53, and 58.47 in 2024. So far, she has already PRed in the 200m with her 24.30 at the Dan Green Invitational.

Ashtyn Lewis (Iowa Colony)

Generations Park will be the season opener for this two-time state championship runner. Lewis won the UIL 4A 400m state titles in 2023 and 2024, while adding a runner-up in the 200m last season as well. Even though she has no outdoor marks this season, she did run 54.63 in the 400m indoors a the Carl Lewis Invitational.

Lewis has PRs of 24.32 and 54.31 outdoors, she might have to run close to them this weekend if she wants to come away with wins. Don't expect he to be deterred by having to do so.

Morgan Johnson (Humble Summer Creek)

Johnson should be one of the Houston area half-milers to keep your eyes on this season. The Junior has yet to compete in the 800m this season, so this will be her season opener in the event.

Last year, as a sophomore, Johnson ended 2024 on a good note. She ran 2:17.99 at her district meet and they went 2:19.44 at the area meet.

Sophia Nguyen (Richmond George Ranch)

Nguyen has the top 1,600m seed coming into Generations Park. She ran a 4:57 PR two years ago when she also dropped bests of 2:12 and 10:52.

So far this season, she only has a 5:18 on the books, but look for her to get back in rhythm this weekend in the 1,600m and the 3,200m.

Lydia Butler (Klein Oak)

Butler will possibly give the 800m, 1,600m, and the 3,200m a go this weekend at Generations Park. She will be one of the top seeds in all of the distance races, with bests of 4:59 and 10:59. She doesn't have an 800m performance on record, but the has a 1:02 in the 400m, which means with her distance running capability she could easily contend in that race as well.

Kelly Frederick (Humble Summer Creek)

Frederick is one of the top returning hurdlers in the state this season. She ran several sub 14-second races in the 100-meter hurdles as well as sub 44-seconds multiple times in the 300-meter hurdles.

Frederick ran some good races indoors including a 8.92  at the Carl Lewis Invitational.

Phoenix Phillips (Humble Summer Creek)

It is almost unfair to have Phillips on the same team as Kelly Frederick, but that is the case for Summer Creek. She was also a sub 44-second runner in the 300H.

This season, Phillips is already getting at it. She ran 14.35 and 44.01 at the Zoe Simpson Invitational a couple of weeks ago and I'm intrigued to see how she follows that up this week.

Lailah Hudson (Shadow Creek)

What is it that Hudson can't do? I don't think that would be a long list. She sprints very well, and she hurdles even better. With personal bests of 24.37 and 56.76 and then 15.32 and 42.31 in the hurdles, she is a versatile runner.

Hudson finished fourth at the state meet in the 300-meter hurdles and will help keep the event as one to watch this week.

Adebola Iyiola (Richmond George Ranch)

Iyiola is already having one heck of a year. She had a very nice day at the Katy ISD Bubba Fife Relays. She ran 15.2 in the 100H, 43.74 in the 300H, and triple jumped 39-2. She will compete in all of the individual events as well as the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

Brianna Rivers (Summer Creek)

Rivers is the reigning UIL 6A high jump state champion. She has a 5-10 personal best both indoors and outdoors and will compete in her specialty this weekend. The Oklahoma commit is also a very good hurdler with 14.38 and 43.87 marks. She cleared 5-8 this outdoor season at the Zoe Simpson Invitational.

Aubrey Riles (Manvel)

Riles is a senior high jumper who comes in with a 5-8 personal best clearance. She opened up three weeks ago with a 5-4 at the Pearland John Morris III Invitational.

Daijah Miller (Shadow Creek)

Miller is a 40-foot triple jumper coming in with a 40-0.50 personal best. This year, she she has SBs of 18-7.50 and 39-11.

Taylor Kerns (Klein Oak)

Kerns is a state meet qualifier and 40-foot triple jumper. This year, she has a 40-3.75 from the indoor season and just missed a 40-footer at the Dan Green Inv. two weeks ago.

Kenniyah Guischard-Yearwood (Pearland)

Yearwood should provide good competition in the long jump for Maxwell. her 19-2 personal best will go a long way to making it worth the watch. She jumped 19-0 earlier this month at her home meet, the Pearland John Morris III Invitational.

Jayden Kimble (Humble Atascocita)

Kimble is the returning UIL 6A state meet runner-up in the discus and is just a sophomore. She threw a 157-10 best in 2024 as well as a 44-11 in the shot put.

Kimble is entered in both throws and has 153-9.50 and 41-3 marks outdoor this season. She also tossed a 43-8.25 indoors.

Logann Edwards (Summer Creek)

Edwards is another big time thrower who will be at Generations Park. She has 153-2 and 40-7.25 bests in her career. The soph went 145-6 and 39-5.5 at Zoe Simpson Invitational to finish second in both behind Kimble.

Boys

Jayden Warren (Iowa Colony)

It is February and that means Jayden Warren is in the track program. The four-star wide receiver (per 247Sports) is one of the fastest rising football recruits in the state. His gridiron improvement is partly due to his commitment to his speed development.

Despite his part-time availability to the sport, Warren is legit and almost as fast as a lightning strike. As a sophomore in 2024, Warren finished third in the 100 and 200m at the UIL 4A state meet and helped get Iowa Colony a team state title.

With 10.58 and 21.07 bests, expect him to get things rolling this weekend at Turner Stadium.

Kaleb Samuels (Pearland)

Samuels will compete in the 200m this weekend at Generations Park. He had a very good indoor season going for a 6.87 best in the 60m and 21.47 in the 200m.

So far outdoors, Samuels was able to ge in a 10.94 and 21.53 at the Cy Ranch Mustang Relays two weeks ago. Thursday might be some of the best conditions outside that he will have to compete in.

With that said, look for Samuels to run way faster than his 22.61 from this meet last year.

Ian Hill (Iowa Colony)

Another top notch Iowa Colony runner, Hill added to his state meet experience by coming away with a medal in his sophomore season. As a frosh, he was fifth in the 400m and last year he placed fourth with his 48.24 personal best, but it was the 800m where he medaled.

Hill was third in the half-mile with a 1:53.76 PR in Austin. He was a major contributor to Iowa Colony's team state title.

Eli Nettles (Humble Atascocita)

While all of the buzz in the country was about Atascocita sprinters last year, the sophomore Nettles just did his thing and continued to improve as the year went along. He ran 1:59 in early March and by the end of the year, he was a consistent 1:54 guy; he even ran 1:54.03 at the Region 3-6A  for fourth place.

While he was close to a state meet berth last year, look for even more growth as he will be getting the best of his coach's personal experience. While Atascocita head coach Elton Ervin is known for his hurdle coaching and success in the sprints last year coaching to a team state title and a National Record in the 4x100 relay, his personal track and field trade was the 800m.

Da'Juan Allison (Humble Summer Creek)

As we mentioned with Nettles, the head coach for Allison is also an 800m runner. In fact, he even coached a state champion half-miler just a couple of years ago when Darius Rainey won the UIL 6A state title. Allison is a versatile distance runner with impressive performances in the 800m through the 5,000m distance on grass.

Allison could be looking to increase his speed in the 800m to improve his development in all of the other distances. He already ran a 1:56.79 personal best this year at the Zoe Simpson Invitational.

Ja'Juan Allison (Humble Summer Creek)

Similarly to his sophomore twin brother, Ja'Juan boasts talent across several distances. He will be competing with his brother this weekend in the 800m, the shortest of the distances he competes in at Summer Creek.

He ran a 1:57.01 at the Zoe Simpson Invitational for a personal best. With a couple of weeks of training under his belt since then, look for him to continue to drop his time.

Michael Menke (Humble Summer Creek)

As with his Summer Creek teammates, Menke will compete in the 800m, but he will also give it a run in the 1,600m. Menke is a talented miler and comes in with a 4:25 personal best.

Menke also has a 2:00 PR in the 800m and will press the field there as well.

Eli Mugambi (Humble Atascocita)

Mugambi is not to be taken lightly. He is equally as impressive as his Humble district compadres. The longer the distance the better Mugambi is, but he still has sub 4:30 capabilities in the 1,600m. He ran a 4:27.85 personal best during the indoor season.

Nolan Bartley (Humble Atascocita)

Bartley can hurdle and he is even in a good groove this season so far with his 14.25 win at the Zoe Simpson Invitational. Last season, he started with a 15.49 and ended the season with a 13.96 PR. He is already ahead of the pace.

Evan Spencer Black (Klein Oak)

Black is a very good high jumper, like 6-10.50 good. He has already gone 6-4 this season at the Dan Green Invitational.

Nathan Black (Klein Oak)

Yet another Black with hops. Nathan already started this season with a PR when he cleared 6-6 at the Dan Green Inv. for the win. Not only did he high jump, but he ran a 49.56 PR in the 400m.

Cameron Phillips (Humble Summer Creek)

Phillips will compete in both jump events this weekend. The junior ended last year at the state mee with an eighth place finish and a 48-1.75 outdoor PR. At the Zoe Simpson Invitational he jumped 22-6 in the long jump and 46-11 in the triple jump to win the event.

Norris Jackson (Humble Atascocita)

Jackson is a University of Southern California commit and thanks to his runner-up finish last year at the UIl 6A state meet in the long jump last year, he is one of the top jumpers to keep eyes on in 2025.

He has several jumps over 24-feet including his 24-10.75 PR. He only has a 23-6 mark from the indoor season so far this year, but this could be his coming out party for 2025.

Rahim Hutchins (Shadow Creek)

Memphis commit Hutchins is another 24-10 inch jumper in this competition. He is one of the most improved jumpers year-to-year as his 24-footer was at Pearland John Morris III Invitational, the same meet he went just 21-1 last year.

Hutchins is more than a jumper, as he should play a big part in the Shadow Creek relays this year. He has 10.83 and 21.89 PRs on the track.
