UIL 2A Region 2 is shaping up to be one of the more competitive groupings in Texas this season. Honey Grove's Ryelan Morris has opened his season with a commanding 10.58 in the 100m, making him one of the top short sprinters in the classification. In the 200m, Max Hopkins of Crawford has run 21.35 to separate himself from the field. Teammate Jayden Minnish and Tioga's Austin Norwood are both in the 22-mid range, while Wyatt Sutton of Alba-Golden has gone 22.21 to stay in striking distance.
Francis Patanpatan has been a standout for Hawley, leading the region in the 400m at 48.81 while also ranking in the top five in the 200m. His consistency is matched by Karl Patanpatan in the 800m, who's posted three sub-2:00 performances, including a 1:55.85.
