The weather was great for Marcus II held at Westchester Park in Flower Mound. The skies were threatening to make it a wet day but it held off just long enough. The course was flat and curvy. Almost the whole course was on grass with the exception of some road running and some concrete on the back of the course. The toughest part of the course had to be the turns. There were numerous turns that made the race a tactical one.
The highlight races of the day were the 5A boys and 5A girls races. The Girls got things started at 8:45am. The Marcus Girls got out to a great start. By the 1 mile mark Cynthia Santaella( Marcus) led followed by Christina Henderson (Coppell). Christina pulled away after mile one to a convincing 13 second victory. The boys race saw a great race of DFW\'s best. Scott MacPherson continued to go undefeated on the season as he ran away with a 22 second victory. At Mile one Scott was all by himself at 4:41. Taylor Ray (Coppell) was next to follow as he had a nice gap before a pack of 3-4 runners followed. The Meet announced said 9:48 for MacPherson at Mile 2. Down the straightway saw some great sprint finishes for 2-7. Daniel LaCava (Grace Prep) used a late surge to catch and pass Brandon Cooper (Lewisville). Jared McNeil held off Taylor Ray (Coppell) and Beck Mitchell (Marcus) for 5th place in a great kick.
