Nathan Salinas competes at the 2024 Region 4-4A Championships
The La Feria boys cross country team hasn't settle over the last couple of years. They've rode the wave their talented class of 2026 brought in and has refused to wipe out. Armando Morales and Anthony Morales with Nathan Salinas all entered high school together and have all achieved individual success along with team success. Despite being in the mix, they've yet to win a UIL 4A team title. Salinas will now be a junior at La Feria and can help get the lions closer to the top of the heap.
He has placed eighth in each of the past two cross country seasons with a time of 15:40 in Round Rock as a sophomore and 15:51 junior year. Other than his 15:25 personal best run at the Donna ISD Cross Country Invitational last year, Salinas has run two of his best all-time performances at the state meet. He shows the ability to race at his best on the big stages.
To go along with Salinas and the Morales twins, La Feria brings back sophomore Andrew Cantu and juniors Jake Vela and Eahden Bocanegra who were all members of the third place state meet finishing team last year.
Last year at state, only seven runners finished ahead of Salinas; of those, one was his teammate Armando, and five others have since graduated. Expect Salinas to deliver another season of exceptional running, potentially propelling La Feria towards higher podium finish, or even a state championship.
