Unlike last week when the majority of schools were at one of two meets, this week saw teams competing at a variety of meets all across the San Antonio area. The Seguin Matador Invitational had a large group of competitors since they host many district meets that will be held in the next week to 10 days.
Gearing Up for Championship Season
Many of the top local teams took care of business this weekend and look good heading into District Championship meets. The Reagan boys and girls, Johnson boys and girls, Clemens boys, Cole boys, Davenport girls, Floresville boys and Poth girls all posted meet victories and are primed for a good postseason. Another team, the Steele girls, put together their best performance of the season by winning the Seguin Matador 5A-6A girls division with just 34 points.
Kassia Kozarski and Peyton Jarzombek led the Knights and have been consistently in the top-10 in races all season long. Kozarski took the individual title covering the 5K course in 18:26.3 while Jarzombek finished in seventh place with a time of 19:47.6. Freshman Sophia Zimmermann and junior Kaylin Polk made big strides with season best performances. They finished in 11th and 12th place, respectively with easily their best 5K times of the season. Their #5 runner, freshman Kylee Adams, also posted a huge personal best time of 20:31.1 to grab 16th place. The Knights look like a team that could grab the District 29-6A title this year.

The Marshall Plan
The Marshall girls team picked a good time to win a meet with their victory at the SWISD Invitational. They finished with 38 points and had all five of their scoring runners in the top-13. Their 1-5 split was 57s. Hanah Dismukes led the way in fourth place with a time of 19:49.72 while Madison Criollo was one place behind her in 19:51.14. A Showdown is Coming
I have written about the Johnson and Reagan girls teams quite frequently this year, but now is the time to highlight the boys' teams. The Jaguars and Rattlers each won invitationals this past weekend. Johnson took the title at Alamo Heights meet with 36 points. Nicolas Repper-Molina took the individual title in 15:42.07 while Kyle Wunderli was the runner-up in 16:03.37. Angel Olmo and Brett Packard gave them two more runners in the top-10. Reagan won the Giddings Camp Tejas Gold Division with 47 points. Logan Martinez (15:21.5) and Aiden Gendron (15:58.4) were the first two runners across the line while Aedin Barnes, Adrian Lemaire and Gabriel Fierro all finished in the top-20. The two teams will go head-to-head for the District title.
Small School Stars
Three of the top small school boys were at the Luling Sandia City Invitational this weekend; Titus Gill (San Antonio Spartans), Kaden Cypert (Floresville) and Cooper Warrick (Stockdale). For Gill, it was his fourth win of the season as he crossed the line in 15:44.71. He has broken 16 minutes in five of his six races this season and his slowest 5K of the season was at last week's Hoka McNeil Invitational where he ran 16:10.00. Cypert, a sophomore, has nearly matched Gill's performance this year. He finished second to Gill with a time of 15:57.47 and has finished in the top four at all five meets he has run. He has run faster than 16 minutes at 4-of-5 meets this year, but he won the Nike South last week with his slowest time of the year, 16:05.80. Stockdale has not been as fast as the other two but has been just as consistently good. He took third in 16:20.93 and finished in the top three at 4-of-5 meets. Heading into the championship season he ranks as one of the top UIL 2A runners in the State.
