UIL District 6-6A Came Down To Tiel Breaker And Hard Running

The UIL 6A District 6A is one of the deepest districts in North Texas, where fast footing and fierce tactics met up on the Myers Park course. The girls' race set the tone, Prosper senior Taylor Peck drove from the gun and never wavered (18:26), while Allen's Selene Garcia kept things honest through two miles and held on for the runner-up spot (18:31).

Prosper closed hard behind Peck, Alivia Spangler (3rd, 18:42), Maggie Breitenstein (6th, 19:03), and Callie Ray (11th, 19:47), and Plano East put five inside the top 15 led by Reagan Noel (4th, 18:46) and Meena Mulford (7th, 19:21).

Region 1-6A individual qualifiers spanned throughout the top 23. Princeton's Gabriella Trejo (8th, 19:30), Plano Senior's trio (Emma Pearson 9th, Kaya Smalley 16th, Joanna Radtke 17th), and Plano West's Kennedy Hodges (10th) and Sophia Bartlett (19th) made sure the pace never sagged.

On the girls' team side, the three regional tickets went to Prosper, Plano East, and McKinney Boyd. Plano East's depth was obvious, with five in the top 15 with a decently tight pack. Prosper's four inside the top 11 here signaled control of the team race, and McKinney Boyd locked in the third berth with three scorers between 5th and 21st plus two more finishers just outside this top-23 list.

Weekday or not, the Myers Park course saw real juice: three boys broke 16 minutes, a statement for District 6-6A depth this late in the season. Prosper's Michael McCart set the tone from the gun and never let it drift, winning in 15:45 with teammate Noah Johnson locking down second in 15:54. McKinney Boyd's Max Reyes (15:57) completed the sub-16 trio, a poised, even-split run that kept the medal race honest and hinted at bigger things at Region I.

Behind the front three, the next wave was all about packs doing damage. Allen stacked Camden Williamson (16:09) and Nathan Brookner (16:10) inside the top five, then sealed the scoring punch with Kieran Tyrrell in 16:31, a 22-second 1-3 spread that travels well to Lubbock for the Eagle trio.

Rock Hill answered with its own tight cluster: Bruno Nascimento (16:13), Gavin Jasenof (16:14), and Ryan Gerard (16:20) all in the top 10, with Excellence Kikontwe (16:40) and Matteo de Leon (16:53) keeping the train rolling before Griffin Vallarino (16:54) capped a formidable seven.

Plano East found balance with Levi Rowe (16:11), Isaac Updike (16:45), and Deyan Bhakta (16:50), giving the Panthers a trio of their own heading to Lubbock to race it out for state meet berths.

Prosper's depth, though, was the day's headline on the team side. Beyond McCart and Johnson's 1-2, the Eagles pushed Jacob Nally (16:15), Jude Greaves (16:47), and Jeter Ramos (17:02) into scoring range, with Kevin Glover (17:27) as insurance. Six runners from one roster in the top finishers is how district titles get clinched.

McKinney Boyd mirrored that blueprint with five qualifiers of its own in the top finishers, after Reyes, the Broncos rolled Judson Brown (16:42), Corbyn Brown (16:48), Carter Adams (16:59), and Shlok Mehta (17:11), plus Brayden Ramirez (17:16) as the sixth through.

Individually, the bubble belonged to athletes who raced with intent and earned their tickets the hard way: Plano West's Jace Akin (16:53), Princeton's Jose Sanchez (17:20), and McKinney's Abel Meza (17:29) all punched through. With three under 16 and 20 boys at 16:59 or faster, District 6-6A once again looked like Region I's microcosm-front-end stars up top, ruthless packs in the middle, and a qualifying line that demanded season-best courage.
