Girls' 60-meter hurdle Finals Heat 2

The girls' 60-meter hurdles at the Texas High School Indoor Championships delivered exactly what the entry list promises: a fast, deep, and nationally relevant showdown featuring returning state champions, medalists, and emerging stars.

From the opening round of preliminaries, it was clear that the margins would be razor-thin. Naomi Booker, the reigning UIL 6A champion in both the 100H and 300H and the No. 2-ranked 60-meter hurdler in the country, asserted herself immediately, clocking the fastest preliminary time and signaling that the title would go through her lane. But she was far from alone, as multiple athletes dipped well under nine seconds, setting the stage for an explosive final.

When the finals arrived, Booker delivered with championship composure. She controlled the race from the first hurdle and crossed the line in 8.64, matching her preliminary time and securing the victory in a field stacked with elite credentials.

Behind her, the battle for the podium was decided by thousandths of a second. Eleanor Kazanjian, last year's UIL 4A 100H runner-up, surged to second in 8.72, edging Rebekah-Jhade Garrett, the Arizona state champion, who finished just one thousandth back in 8.72 as well. Chiora Enyinna, the reigning UIL 4A 100H state champion, followed closely in fourth with an 8.75, while Madison Mason and Journey Jones rounded out a tightly packed top six, both stopping the clock at 8.76.

The depth of the final underscored just how loaded the event was, with eight athletes under 8.85 and multiple underclassmen making a statement against proven champions. From Booker's authoritative win to the photo-finish battle behind her, the girls' 60-meter hurdles stood out as one of the premier technical sprint events of the meet, and an early indicator that Texas hurdle racing is once again poised to play a major role on the national stage this indoor season.
