Nomad Endurance Camp Returns For 2026 With Two TX Locations

- - -

The Nomad Endurance Camp is set to return this summer, bringing together middle school and high school distance runners from across the region for an immersive running experience focused on development, education, and community.

Designed for athletes of all ability levels, the camp provides an opportunity to train alongside runners from multiple states, including Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and New Mexico. Participants will also have the chance to interact with and learn from high-level collegiate athletes and experienced coaches in the distance running world.

In 2026, Nomad Endurance will host two overnight camps in Texas.

The first session will take place June 27-30 at YMCA Camp Grady Spruce, located on the scenic shores of Possum Kingdom Lake. The second camp will run July 16-19 at Ascend Camp in Dallas.

Both camps provide a full overnight experience for athletes. Registration includes all meals, lodging in updated cabins equipped with air conditioning, bathrooms, and showers, as well as access to daily training runs and classroom sessions designed to help runners better understand the sport.

Camp programming focuses on developing well-rounded athletes both physically and mentally. Classroom sessions throughout the week will cover a variety of topics including:

  • The mental side of distance running

  • Nutrition for endurance athletes

  • Strength training and injury prevention

  • Race strategies and pacing

  • Training principles for long-term development

Athletes will typically run one to two times per day, including a structured workout during the camp. While training and education are central to the experience, the camp also emphasizes fun and team building. One of the highlights each year is the Glow Relay, where the course is lined with glow sticks for a nighttime relay race that brings the entire camp together.

The camp staff encourages runners of all levels to attend, from beginners to experienced varsity athletes. Training groups are structured to accommodate a wide range of abilities so that every athlete can develop at an appropriate level while still experiencing the camaraderie of the sport.

With support from TXMileSplit, the camp is offering a $50 discount to the first 30 athletes who register using the code MILESPLIT. Coaches who bring their teams are also eligible for additional team discounts.

Each camp session is limited to 100 athletes, and organizers report that both camps are already over 50% full, so early registration is encouraged.

Whether runners are looking to improve their training knowledge, meet athletes from across the region, or simply spend a few days immersed in the sport, the Nomad Endurance Camp aims to deliver a memorable and impactful experience for the next generation of distance runners.
