Mayde Creek Varsity boys, Cinco Ranch girls win Mayde Creek Puma/Finish Strong Invitational Sep 11, 2007

More than 700 runners representing 26 schools slogged through mud puddles to compete at the annual Mayde Creek Puma/Finish Strong Invitational Cross Country meet held September 8 at Bear Creek Park. The Mayde Creek Varsity Boys held off strong Strake Jesuit and Cedar Park teams to win gold at their home meet. Cinco Ranch varsity girls also won gold at the meet, beating teams from A&M Consolidated and College Park.  Strake Jesuit senior James Webb won the varsity boys race with a time of 16:08.7, followed by junior Colin Durham and senior Daniel Balbontin of Mayde Creek, with times of 16:11.7 and 16:12.1 respectively. For the varsity girls, senior Brittainy Robertson of Alvin struck gold with a time of 11:58.4.  Senior Nicole Peters of Langham Creek took second with a time of 12:07.5, while Elizabeth Gilbert of Memorial High School came in third with a time of 12:10.8.  The winning team from Mayde Creek included Collin Durham, Daniel Balbontin, Eric Doll, Julian Duarte, Nick Dalheim, Will Weaver and Sarang Joshi. The winning Cinco Ranch girls were Alyse Goldsmith, Kristen Stone, Alex Bullard, Allie Keithan, Mallory Ramsey, Crace Howard and Itzel Cetina      Cinco Ranch girls also won the JV race, followed by College Park and A&M Consolidated. On the JV side, Cedar Park boys won the JV race, followed by Strake Jesuit and Memorial. Strake Jesuit boys won the Freshmen boys race, followed by College Park and Cedar Park.
