Weather Policy (Short Version):

Weather decisions will be made in real time, as every situation is different.


St. Michaels lightning system is our primary guideone long alarm = clear the facility immediately, and three alarms = all clear.

During delays, please shelter in cars first, then the gym (bleachers only, no gym floor access).

We will allow up to a 1-hour delay from the scheduled start time.
Field Events and hurdles are not safe to perform on slick conditions.

2026 CAPPS Track & Field Invitational Meet Rules
GENERAL:
No late entries will be accepted
NO ADDITIONS AT THE SCRATCH MEETING!
A substitution can be made for your relay team by a participant that has not already competed in 3 running events.
Running spikes are allowed (up to 1/4'", optional)
A race will not wait on a runner. All athletes and coaches need to listen to the announcer and clerk of the course.
Participants need to check in with the event judges when arriving for an event
Only athletes, coaches, and officials are allowed on the infield (track area)
Only 1 relay team can be entered by each school for each relay event
No Starting Blocks Allowed
No Running alongside participants
5 events are the maximum that a participant can compete in (3 run & 2 field or 3 field & 2 run), Relays count towards your Running Events
Four Classifications: 5/6 Girls, 5/6 Boys, 7/8 Girls, & 7/8 Boys
Scoring: Top 8 score points for their team (10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 for individual races) (20, 16, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 for relays)
Scoring Cont'd: Only 3 participants per school per event will count towards team scoring. Individuals will still be awarded to additional teammates that place.
Team Trophies: Awarded to 1st for each Classification
Individual Awards: Medals awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
All entries are due by the designated deadline on the website.
Three (3) Entries per school per event as long as the 5 event rules are followed.
TRACK EVENTS:
5/6 Running Events: 50M, 100M, 200M, 400M, 800M, 1600M, 4x100M, 4x200M, 4x400M
7/8 Running Events: 100M, 200M, 400M, 800M, 1600M, 4x100M, 4x200M, 4x400M
Relay's baton must be handed off inside the exchange zone.
Exchange zone will be 30m and athletes must start inside the 30m as well as exchange within the 30m.
FIELD EVENTS: General Rules
7/8 Field Events: Running Long Jump, Shot Put (6lbs for 7/8 Girls, 8lbs for 7/8 Boys)
5/6 Field Events: High Jump, Discus (1K - wood, rubber, plastic, and metal/carbon fiber)
Running events take priority over field events
3 Throws, 3 Jumps, 3 Jumps at each height
*High Jump - Starting Heights: 5/6 Girls 3'6", 5/6 Boys 3'8"
