The Canyon girls are ranked 30th coming into the cross country season this fall. They return six of their top seven girls from last fall, including their top runner in junior Angel Hayden. Last year the girls finished seventh at the Texas 5A State Cross Country Championships. When you take out the class of 2015, the returning girls would rank 26th in the state of Texas for XC. If the Canyon team can find one more girl who can go under 21 minutes, they will have a good chance of improving upon their place from last season.
