What to Watch This Weekend!

Georgetown River Run

If he runs agin this weekend Daniel Viegra will be the guy to beat. Last weekend he finished runner up to Sam Worley at the McNeil Invitational running a 14:49. That has been his sole loss all season. The junior will look to add the River Run to list of wins. Other contenders for the title are Viegra's teammate Justin Botello, and Allen's Tim Jones, and Jake Johnson. Botello has been running strong all season finishing just behind Viegra at the Pflugerville ISD Invitational and 13th last weekend in a loaded field at McNeil. Jones, like Viegra has a list of wins to his name including the Lovejoy XC Fall Festival where he and Johnson finished 1-2 to lead Allen to a 95 point win. Having said that Allen will be the team to watch with Jones and Johnson leading the way. Another team who could be in the mix is Georgetown. They won the Cedar Park invite earlier this year scoring 121 points for the win.

In the girls race we again should keep an eye on Allen. The girls have also won their past two invites lead by junior Danielle Drogosch. Drogosch ran a PR of 18:39 just two weeks ago at the Lovejoy XC Fall Festival. She will be in contention for the individual title with Georgetown High sophomore Jazmin Hernandez. Last weekend Hernandez won the McNeil Invitational girls 5A race running 18:35. St Andrews will also look to give Allen some tough competition.
