Norman Grimes Commits To Texas Tech!
Canyon senior Norman Grimes announced earlier this month via Twitter his plans to attend Texas Tech University. His decision was made shortly after he attended for an official visit. Grimes was the Texas Gatorade Track and Field Player of The Year this past spring after his impressive season. Grimes didn't lose a 300mH race through all of last years regular season. Grimes was the 300mH Region 1-5A (37.44) champion, and Sate Champion (36.35) last spring. In the post season Grimes competed at the Great Southwest Classic where he finished 9th in the 400m (47.93). He also ran the 400m hurdles at NBNO where he placed 3rd.
Grimes has not only excelled on the state and national level but also at the international level. He has represented Team USA in both the Pan-American Junior Athletics Championships (50.10) as well as the 9th IAAF World Youth Championships (49.11 for 400mH 33"). He captured both 400m races bringing home 2 golds for Team USA. His 49.11 ranks him World Youth #2 All-Time! At the World Youth Championships he also helped Team USA take home the gold in the mixed 4x400m relay.
