Nicholas Hamilton ran a 1:54 in the 800m prelims on Thursday. There were 13 other guys who also ran sub two minutes in the prelims setting up the guys 800m to be a battle. Hamilton had the fastest prelim time but Jason Bugg from Houston Strake Jesuit stole the show. In the finals Bugg ran U.S. #13 1:53.92 for the win. Just behind him was Kingwood Parks Carter Floyd who ran a 1:54.44 for U.S. #21. Hamilton ended up finishing 5th.

The girls 800m run saw a breakout performance from Jersey Village's Morgan Stewart. Stewart ran a U.S. #3 time of 2:09.60 to take the win. She crushed the competition by more than five seconds! She having a standout junior season in both the 400m and 800m. This was her third time running sub 2:15 for 800m this year. Her best 800m time before this year was 2:13.93 which she ran last February.
