Matthew Smith at last year's state meet
Matthew Smith a senior at Priddy High School, passed away this week. Smith was the returning state 1A 3rd place finisher in cross country. He helped his team win the 1A state title in 2015 scoring 34 points. Family and friends are hoping to raise money to help cover the costs of his funeral. Many friends in the running community have reached out to show support for the family.

Matthew Smith was the friend that everyone wanted to have, he touched the lives and hearts of everyone that he met. He was a senior that had a passion for running and for making people smile. He was a member of the national honor society, cross country, basketball and track teams and never missed an opportunity to help someone out. He loved being a big brother to his 3 younger siblings and was a blessing to his parents. He will be forever loved and dearly missed.
