State Championship Boys 5-A Preview
Who: Teams: Valley View, Sundown, New Summerfield, Great Hearts Monte Vista
Why: For two years Valley View has run it ways to the top of the podium as 2-A State Champs until Sundown put an end to their reign last season. This Saturday they are going to get back at the top of the awards stand. They had a strong regional race, in which they ran to a 17:02 team average. Great Hearts Monte Vista will definitely be one of their challengers. They reeled off a 17:06 average at the Region IV meet.
Individuals: Defending 2-A State Champ, Steven Quintanilla had a great track season and is expecting to cap off another big cross country season. He ran away with the Region II race by a long shot and won't be shy from running from the front this weekend. He has the top 5K time of the year in 2A with a 15:59. His challenges will come from Duncan Taylor and Ryan Robinson who have both ran 16:09 5Ks.
