Elizabeth Leachman (Boerne Champion) crosses the finish line at Foot Locker South Regional Championships in first for the second consecutive season

Elizabeth Leachman (Boerne Champion), Sophia Bendet (Universal City Randolph), and Macy Wingard (Denton Braswell) all qualified the the Foot Locker National Championships. 

Each of the three qualifiers were repeat winners at their respective Texas UIL state championships last month. The three girls also individually qualified for next week's Nike Cross Nationals, in Portland, Oregon.

The qualifying race was the South Region competition this past weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina. With a time of 16:55, Leachman won this year's race in Charlotte, making her the two-time champion of that region, following last year's win. She eventually went on to win the National Championships in San Diego, California.

At the 2023 South Regional meet, Bendet ran what was then a 5K personal best of 17:39 and finished in 19th place. She improved to this year's fourth place finish with a time of 17:08 and will head to the National Championships for the first time.

Previously, Wingard hadn't competed in this event and will make her first Foot Locker appearance. She ran 17:16 for an eight place finish.
