Rodriguez had to sit out the 2016 varsity season after transferring, but she had herself a heck of a 2017 cross country season. She didn't seem to feel the affect of running JV then moving back up to varsity as she lowered her times all season long and topping out at 18:23.80 for a PR and a 12th place finish at the UIL 5A state meet and 38th at NXR South.
That was just the beginning for Rodriguez as she tore things up on the track in the spring. She had a great run at the Texas Relays 3200m when she ran 11:03.36 for sixth place. She returned to Austin for the UIL 5A state meet in both the 1600m (7th - 5:12.57) and the 3200m (6th - 10:59.30).
Now that Rodriguez has her groove back after going to state in all of the distance races last year, we'll see what kind of runner a season of confidence makes her this year.
