When you think Southlake Carroll runners you think elite. However, they don't always start out that way. Most of the time, just like with anybody else it's a process.

Jack Myers' rise to be a Carroll Dragon varsity runner was just that; a process.

As a freshman, Myers' first 5K race was in 23:03.40. His next race was better, but still not blazing by any means as he ran 22:30.67. By the end of the season, he had improved to 19:49.40 PR. As a sophomore, he steadily improved dropping down big time by three minutes to a 16:49.92.

As a junior last year, Myers ran his way onto the Southlake Carroll varsity team. He started the season off with a bang with a 15:52 5K at the Marcus I Invitational. From there, the season was what Carroll runners dream to do, he helped lead the team back to the state meet and on the awards stand to a second place UIL 6A team finish missing out on a state championship by just six point. The next annual goal of being a Carroll Dragon is to qualify for NXN and that is exactly what he was able to step up and help his team accomplish.

So, from 23 minutes to 15:33 in just three years, what can Myers produce in this fourth and final year as a Dragon? Can he get down to 15:00 or below and possibly lead his team to it's first state championship in four years?
