UIL 2A Girls All-State Cross Country Teams

UIL 2A Girls All-State Second Team

Stacey freshman had a solid season. She ran two sub 13 minute races this fall including a 12:38 at state for a top 15 finish.

13 Kiley Barrera (Plains)

Barrera is a true track and field athlete as she competes in the jumps and the 800m. She is also a stud in cross country. She was 34th last year at state and she improved her finish and time this year. She ran a big time 12:28 PR to finish 13th last month at state.

12 Jessica Garcia (Eldorado)

Garcia improved her speed last track season by running 800s and it showed down the stretch of the cross country season. She lowered her times this year and finished with a huge 12:36 PR for 12th place at state.

11 Francisca Ybarra (Sundown)

With some teammates not running and a new head coach, this season was a little bit different for Sundown sophomore Ybarra. That didn't seem to faze her too much as she still put together an awesome year. She won district, was 10th at Region 1-2A and then upped her freshman year finish from 15th to 11th this year with a new 12:31 PR.

10 Brenna Butler (Gruver)

Gruver junior Butler was the catalyst this year for the team. She helped lead them to their third place state meet finish and a team trophy. The all-state 300 meter hurdler used her speed and her previous fourth place state cross country state meet experience to grab another podium finish in 12:29 for 10th place.

9 Emma Walterscheid (Muenster)

Muenster knew they had a fast freshman coming from the middle school level in Walterscheid and she proved it this year. She had a sub 12 run despite the actual distance. Still, she was in the 12s most of the season. She was district champ in 12:49, second at Region 2-2A in 12:33 and finished the season in ninth place at state in 12:29 to get onto the podium.

8 Eleana Campos (Freer)

Campos had a solid season and then late September things began to click. She was sixth at the McNeil Inv. going 13:08. She peaked in the championship season going sub 13 in all three races. She won her district, as third at Region 4-2A in 12:39 and finished the year in eighth place at state in 12:26.
