Cord Piper Won The 1A Boys 110H and Cohan Thompson Won 300H


Boys 110 Meter Hurdles

Cord Piper's lean at the line was enough to give him the title in the 1A 110-meter hurdles. After a good start, he cleared every hurdle with ease and showed his experience in the event. The Paducah senior crossed the line in a time of 14.68 to add a gold medal to his bronze medal from last year in the event.

Coming in with the fastest time from regionals, Sawyer Francis of Silverton was bound to contend for the title. Up until the final hurdles, he was in the lead but finished just behind with a time of 14.72.

Sam Wiggins of Electra held onto third, clocking in at 15.31.

1A Boys 300 Meter Hurdles

Cohan Thompson capped off his high school career besting his silver medal from a year ago. Despite trailing around the curve, the Calvert senior finished strong and went from fourth to first in the home stretch with a time of 39.11. 

In his first time at the state meet, Stryker Reed hasn't shied away from the competition. After nearly taking a podium spot in the 110-meter hurdles, the Gordon freshman came away with the runner-up spot and even threatened to take the gold. He finished with a time of 39.19.

Trevon Coffell of Mertzon Irion County edged out Santa Anna's Bruce Brown by just .01 seconds for the bronze with a time of 40.20.
