Paducah wasted no time running away from the competition. From the start gun to the finish line, they were in control of the race and broke their own Conference 1A record with a time of 42.80. The 2022 state bronze medalists ran their race to perfection with a clean start and handoffs to put this one away.
Out in lane nine, Van Horn got a solid start in the race and wasn't a favorite to finish on the podium. Despite being up against tall odds, they took home the silver medal with a time of 43.71.
At the first baton exchange, Milford had the slight lead. Their lead may have dwindled but it was enough for them to take the final podium spot in a time of 43.98.

1A Boys 4x200 Relay
With all three podium finishers from a year ago, the anticipation was high for what would be another great finish.
Turkey Valley jumped out to the lead at the first exchange but was followed closely by Van Horn, Paducah and Cross Plains.
Paducah, just moments after winning the 400-meter relay, showed why they were the runner-ups a year ago and came back with a chip on their shoulder. With a strong finish from their anchor, Jakyen Wright, they claimed the title with a time of 1:30.23.
Van Horn claimed the lead, but just for a brief moment as they finished second with a time of 1:31.00 despite not qualifying for state a year ago.
Last year's state champion Turkey Valley held on for the bronze with a time of 1:32.08.

1A Boys 4x400-meter relay:
In a race that looked to be coming down to the wire, Follett pulled away in the anchor leg to take the 1A boys mile relay title. Their time of 3:29.36 gave them the win to close out the night and cap off their season in a dominant fashion.
Meridian held on for the runner up spot, edging out Gordon by just over half a second for the final spots on the podium. Happy turned in the fastest time at regionals but was unable to get in the mix, finishing fifth.
