Austen Dalquist, a Junior at Keller High School, is an up and coming
runner to watch. Not only did Dalquist PR this past Thursday at the
Decatur Eagle Relays, but he did it in the wind and by himself.
Winning the 3200M around four in the afternoon, Dalquist breaks his
school record and wins by a whole 41 seconds with a time of 9:32.73.
If that wasn’t enough Dalquist came back that night and broke the
1600M record with a 4:21.05 winning by 12 seconds. Early in the
season, Dalquist has put himself in the spotlight, coming in the
rankings at 5th for the 3200M and 3rd for the 1600M in the Class 5A
State of Texas. Dalquist competes next at Boswell High School, this
Thursday. This young man is surely a runner to watch and hopefully is
able to make time to go to Prom with Sanger’s runner Bryce Perry
despite his busy running schedule.
