The Longhorn duo stopped by Flo/MileSplit HQ to talk about the next step in their running careers. Years of leading the way for Texas distance running both in HS & in college. They now move forward to join the PRO ranks together running for Hoka One One and Naz Elite!
Craig Lutz has been a standout distance runner going back to his Texas HS career. He was a multiple medalist at UIL State, with his most impressive performance coming from a 8:52 win during the 2011 3200m.
During his XC HS years he won UIL State and posted Top-5 finishes at BOTH NXN & Footlocker. Along with a 2009 NXN National Championship Title.
Continuing into his solid years as a Longhorn, Lutz was a 4 Time NCAA All American. Hitting PRs of 13:40 in the 5k and 28:33 in the 10k.
He now joins another Texas All Star runner (Leo Manzano) to sign with Hoka One One. On top of signing with Hoka, Lutz also announced that he will be training with the NAZ Elite squad in Flagstaff. From the NAZ Elite Press Release:
“I will have the perfect training conditions to grow in this sport and succeed,” Lutz said. “Running professionally has been a dream of mine since elementary school and now, here I am, stepping into that roll and checking another goal off of the list. ”
Another Texan joining the Hoka One One/Naz Elite team is Klein Oak grad Ryan Dohner. 3200m UIL State Champ in 2010. 3x All American, and Top-15 at the NCAA XC Champs. Dohner ran 29:18 in the 5k this outdoor season and holds a 5k PR of 13:45.
From the NAZ Elite Press Release:
“I had a couple of setbacks this past year and didn’t get the finish to my college career that I wanted,” Dohner said. “But now I get to move to Flagstaff where I believe I’ll be able to show the running world what I can really do.”
Wishing Craig & Ryan the best of luck on the next step in their running careers! Always great to see Texas HS athletes continue on to join the Pro ranks!
