This Friday we ran at the Friday Night Hawk Invite. This is always one of my favorite meets because it's at night so it's a little different than normal meets.
It's the first meet of the season which is always super exciting! Going into the race, my plan was to go out hard the first mile & then hang on for the second. I went out in about 5:30 at the mile which was a little slower than I would have liked but it was good for the first meet.
I ended up getting 2nd running 11:31 which I was pretty happy with, but it showed me that I still have lots of work to do. But after a long summer of training, it was so nice to finally get to race again!

I was really proud of how the rest of my team ran. We are always really excited when we win, but it meant a little more this week because it was our own meet and we had lots of fans that came out to watch.

Lastly, I just wanted to give a special shoutout to all of our parents & the booster club for putting on the meet. It was the biggest Hawk Invite yet and it definitely wouldn't have been a success without them! It was a great start to the season and I can't wait for the many meets to come!
