This weekend we went to the Southlake Invitational which is one of my favorite meets of the year. I was really excited for this meet because I knew there was going to be lots of good competition and fast times. This past week during my workouts I was really focusing on giving up good for great. Keeping that mind set, my race plan was to focus on getting in a fast first mile and then trying to stay strong for the last two.
The mile was perfect and I ran exactly the time I wanted to. The last two miles weren't as fast as I would have liked but I still managed to PR by a couple seconds. Overall, I was happy with my race and it was really good to get to run against some of the best in the state to see where I am in my training and show me how much work I still have to do. Also, I was really proud of some of the other girls on the team who had big PRs. It's really exciting to see some of the younger girls stepping up and I'm really excited to see what the rest of the season has in store.
