Lovejoy Thank Your Parents Pole Vault
This was the first big pole vault meet of the year hosted by Texas Express Track Club (Dallas Vault Club), at Lovejoy High School. The meet had almost 30 competitors and many that made the national leaderboards. On the guys side, Will Herrscher a 2015 Rockwall Heath graduate who was competing unattached took the win vaulting 16-03. The first high school competitor on the guys side was James Manders from Frisco Heritage. The junior vaulted 15-03 for 2nd. That mark stands as U.S. #5 and is also both his indoor and outdoor PR. Jacob Franks from Marcus and Noah Sewell from Rockwall took 3rd and 4th both clearing their new indoor PR's of 14-09. That mark also ranks them both tied for U.S. #11 with Vestavia Hills (AL) James Henry Barrett and Michigan's Nathanial Fasbender.
The girls meet also saw some girls vault their way into the national rankings. Both the 1st and 2nd place girls vaulted over 10. Dallas Parish Episcopal's Megan Fitzgerald won clearing 11-09 while Chloe Wall from Farmersville was 2nd with her vault of 11-03. The two girls rank U.S. #9 and U.S. #23 respectively. Fitzgerald was last year's TAPPS 5A state champ with a jump of 11-60, she was also 4th at the TTFCA Meet of Champions.
