Texas MileSplit State Meet Power Rankings
How can we compare track and field performers when they compete in so many different events? To tackle this problem, I developed a formula to rank the top UIL track and field athletes based on who will have the biggest impact at the 2016 UIL Outdoor Track State Championships.
Texas MileSplit State Meet Power Rankings Criteria:
- 2014 UIL State Meet Performance
- 2015 Outdoor Best Mark
- 2015 UIL State Meet Performance
- 2015 UIL State Meet Relay
- 2016 Outdoor Best Mark
Six athletes were added to each set of criteria to meet the UIL championship scoring format (10,8,6,4,2,1), and then the scores were weighted for the most emphasis to be given to 2015 performances.
The top returners in each category received the maximum number of points with the remaining points being distributed down the list.
