Abbey Santoro Race Report The BIG Team Win at Chile Pepper

Abbey Santoro - Race Report: Chile Pepper: Fayetteville, Arkansas

This weekend we drove up to Arkansas to race at Chile Pepper which we were all super excited about! We previewed the course the day before the meet so that we were able to feel comfortable racing on a course we had never run before. On the day of the race we woke up early and drove to a park by our hotel to get in an easy shakeout run just to wake ourselves up. After that, we came back and ate breakfast and then left for the meet around 8:30 AM. Our race wasn't until 11:30 so we were able to kind of relax for a little while when we got to the meet. Once it was time to start warming up we jogged around the course and then headed back over to the starting line to stretch and do some strides. The starting line was super crowded and our race actually ended up having to be restarted. Once the gun went off for the second time, I really focused on getting out hard because there were so many girls in this race and I didn't want to get stuck. The course was super fast and it was the most fun race I have ever ran! I am thankful we got the chance to race against some great competition. I ended up getting third with a 17:38 and I was really happy with how the race turned out, almost everyone PR'd and we ended up taking first place as a team.
