Abby Riordan's District of Doom Race Report

Race Report By: Abby Riordan

We all woke up super excited today because it is district! For some, this means the end of their season, but we are determined to keep moving forward. We kept everything the same as we had from the whole rest of the season to make sure everyone ran as best as they could. When we arrived at the course, we warmed up and did the same thing we had done at every other meet. When the gun went off, I knew I had to get out hard because I didn't want to get boxed in at the beginning. I felt comfortable the first mile as I went out in 5:25. I continued feeling strong through the second mile. During the third mile, I tried to finish as strong as I could, but couldn't close the race in what my goal was. I finished 2nd which was okay, I just have a few changes to make to be stronger for the upcoming weeks. As a team, we got third, which we were excited to be moving on to regionals, but also knew this wasn't one of our best races. Our JV girls did a great job coming in 2nd to Southlake and I was super proud of the way they finished their season. For our guys, Conner Miller came in third advancing to region. Shout out to Adam Dayani for finishing his race and still getting 11th despite his injury, making him more motivated to come back for Nike and Foot Locker. Overall, we were happy that we survived the "district of doom" and are happy to keep progressing for the weeks to come.
