Sam Worley (New Braunfels Canyon)

Sam Worley, what a senior season this guy has pulled together. Last year he had a rough go during cross country coming down with a sickness which knocked him out of the state meet and almost saw him not even qualify for state. He made it to NXN in 2015 but didn't have the finish he wanted finishing 75th overall. This year there was a major turnaround. Coming into the championship season healthy he crushed the Region 4 meet by almost 20 seconds over the next runner. He then won State using his 1:50 800m speed to kick down guys like Daniel Bernal, and Alex Maier. We saw that same speed Worley has come to be known for again at NXN South and Foot Locker South. Worley didn't lose a race all season except NXN where he came in 2nd to defending champion Casey Clinger. Even there we witness Worley use his nasty speed to pull off the 2nd place finish. So far this is one season is one Worley should be very proud of, and it's not over yet! He still has Foot Locker this Saturday with yet another shot to win it all.
