We're catching up with several athletes to hear everything from what they're most excited for heading into this outdoor season to their favorite pre and post race meal. Today's Q&A is with sprinter and 400m stud Sean Hooper from Keller Fossil Ridge. Hooper holds one of the fastest 60m times in the country and is one of the top outdoor returning 400m runners in Texas.
What are you most excited for this outdoors season and why?
I'm most excited for everything, to be honest, I can't wait till the season starts!
What are some of your goals this season? What steps do you have to take to get there?
Run Fast times, train to be great and do what I do best.
How do you think the indoor season went? Are you happy with how things started out? Do you have any more indoor races planned?
I think it went pretty good considering this is my first year running indoor track and so I think it went well. I have 1 more meet that will be held in Frisco.
What are some of the things that keep you focused heading into a big competition?
Not worrying about other competition this is my race I have to focus on myself, not anyone else. I have trained hard for this moment now lets put on a show!
What do you attribute to last year's late season success?
The training just took off.
Boys 60 Finals Section 2 - Sean Hooper 6.86
If you had to pick out the weakest part of your race what would it be and why? How do you plan on strengthening it this season?
The weakest part of my race is my start why? Cause I'm tall and most tall people have a slowly reacting time to the block contact and shorter kids get out faster. I plan on doing the small things to get my start good and being perfect
What's the strongest part of your race? What do you do in training to help you with that part?
Back side [of the 400m dash], I do a variety of things to help with that. The best part of the race is when the gruesome battle is finally over and I've crossed the finish line in 1st.
Who do you think some of your biggest competitors will be this year?
Everyone is a big competitor.
Who inspires/motivates you the most as an athlete?
My mom and coach.

Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 duck sized horses?
