Gabe Oladipo is the 2017 Texas UIL 6A runner-up in the shot put and the State champ and the Texas record holder in the discus. For a young man who has made his footing in the throwing events, he was almost in another sport. Looking at his size, strength, and his footwork, one can't help but to vision a big time defensive lineman. Football was definitely a clear option. However, as it's been told, Oladipo had just as much potential in baseball as he did in track and field. As a track guy, I certainly believe the right decision was made.
Oladipo will compete this weekend against some of the nation's best shot put and discus throwers. He leads the field in the discus that will have three guys that have thrown over 200 feet. The shot put is also loaded as it will have four who have thrown over 62'.
