Rivera is still a pretty young athlete, bu he has been a state meet regular in both cross and track. Last year, he climbed the ladder all of the way up to the runner-up position in cross. He then followed that up with a solid state track meet with a fifth place finish in the 3200m and a second in the 1600m. His top track performance was possibly the 9:37.31 at the Jesuit Sheaner Relays.
Kaufman has been a top Texas program for many years and he helped lead them back to the awards stand with a third place overall finish at the UIL 4A state meet.
They move up to 5A this year and both individually and team wise, things will have to step up in order to continue the success. As a junior, Rivera is seasoned and experienced enough to handle it.
