Four Observations from UIL District Week

Dallas Girls Teams Are Scary Good

The four survivors of the Region 1-6A have a good shot at finishing 1,2,3,4 at the state meet. The team with the best opportunity to stifle that is another DFW squad -- Prosper. Prosper will compete in the Region 2-6A race and has just as good of a shot as any to win it all this year.

Look at this, Region I-6A girls team have been dominant in the state for a long time. Only a Region 1 team has won the state title in the largest girls division of Texas dating back to 2010. Aside from 2016, when The Woodlands squad finished third, Region 1-6A girls teams have finished 1,2,3 since 2014. In fact, they've won and finished runner up dating back to 2013.

Keller has won the last two state titles and they took a good step toward a third one this year with their slight district win last week over Southlake Carroll. Both squads look exceptionally strong and fast heading into the regional meet.

Then Flower Mound got a win with their tough district battle over CoppellHebron, and Marcus. Those four teams battled with only the first three surviving onto regionals.

Without a doubt, the DFW girls teams have been the best in the 2018 season and regionals and state could be just more of more.
