Wednesday Is For Winners

Humble Summer Creek and Aldine Eisenhower throw down in 4x100 relay battle at Sam Mosely Relays

Week three of the outdoor season was a big one and that brings us to the second edition of Wednesday is for Winners. Big times and performances were dropped all across the state and we are going to highlight a couple of them.

Kenondra Davis - Fort Worth Trimble Tech

The Desoto High School - Nike Invitational is responsible for some of the top performances year in and year out. this season is no different. The 2018 UIL 5A 100m and 200m Kenondra Davis from Fort Worth Trimble Tech had herself quite a day.

She ran two superb races with her 11.59 and 23.54 times to bolt towards the top of the state rankings in both events. Davis sits at the #2 spot in the girls 100m rankings and currently has the fastest 200m time in Texas. To get her two wins, Davis had to take down DeSoto studs in both events to get the wins.

Cynthia Emeremnu - Laredo Alexander

Laredo Alexander senior Cynthia Emeremnu has been tearing it up for weeks down in the valley. This weekend, she cranked things up a notch by adding three wins to her season total. Emeremnu won the 100m with a 12.24 and then hit the track again in the 200m to drop a 25.4 to take her second sprint win of

meet at the 6th Annual McAllen ISD. The field is where she picked up her third win. A 17-6.25 jump in the long jump gave Emermnu her third win of the day.

Caleb Boger - Mesquite

The University of Houston signee Caleb Boger also picked up two wins at DeSoto.

Boger won two sprints events with his 10.65 100m time and then he stepped up to the 400m and busted a 49.33 to take the W in that event as well.

The Mesquite senior is off to a good start to the 2019 season and making it know he is expanding his range beyond just the 4x400 relay.

Robert Withmarsh - Freeport Brazoswood

Whitmarsh is a name you might not know yet, but you soon will. The Brazoswood middle distance runner showcased his 2019 fitness with two impressive wins at the Clear Falls Knight Relays

Whitmarsh dropped two PRs right out of the gate as he busted a 49.64 in the 400m and then a 1:56.90 in the 800m. The sky is the limit for this young runner and we'll possibly be hearing more about him.

Summer Creek Girls

Humble Summer Creek girls have a squad! At the

Sam Mosely Relays they were led by their top two sprinters Tianna Randle and Dynasty McClennon who torched the sprint events.

Randle had her way with the 100m and 200m events with her #1 Texas mark of 11.54 and a 24.32 in the 200m. Her teammate McClennon ran a TX #3 55.78 in the 400m. Summer Creek also got big performances in the long jump and the 4x100 relay.

Amiyah Matthews jumped a 17-8.5 in the long jump for the win. To top things off, a quartet of Summer Creek girls teamed up to run 46.55 for the #2 4x100 relay time in the state.

Tompkins Girls and Boys Distance

The Tompkins cross country squads have been amongst the best in the state over the last three years. They have continued their efforts onto the track.

The girls squad got a PR performance from Marisa Marinchak in the 800m as she ran for the win and then they also got a one-two finish in the 1600m with a Hayden Gold 5:15.46 and a Grace Kohout 5:16.82. Both girls also teamed up in the 3200m with Kohout winning in 11:15.31 and Gold's fourth place finish in 11:44.03. For good measure, Gold also ran to a runner-up finish in the 2K steeple chase with a 7:21.60.

The production from their distance girls helped propel the Tomkins girls squad to an over all team win at the Sam Mosely Relays.

The boys continued the Falcons trend as they got wins in the 800m with Cole Lindhorst's 1:57.07. From there, they got first and third place finishes in the 3200m with a 9:32.83 from Justin Duffy and a 10:01.68 from Adam Smith and a 2K steeplechase win from Gavin Saacke in 6:30.20.
