Coach Lloyd Banks Named USTFCCCA Texas Boys Coach of Year

Thanks to the phenomenal season the Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos had this 2019 season, the Texas Track and Field Coaches Association (TTFCA) Coach of the Year award was awarded to Lloyd Banks.

This week, Banks added another Coach of the Year award when he was named by the USTFCCCA as the Texas boys' Coach of the Year.

Under the leadership of Banks, Marshall was able to capture their second consecutive UIL 5A state team title. Not only was it the second straight, but it was the fourth state championship in the last five years.

Banks' team delivered two individual state champions this season and were led by their All-American relays that sealed the deal for another title. Marshall led the entire nation this year in the 4x100 relay as they delivered the fastest time of the year with a 39.99 as well as in the 4x200 with their 1:23.38.


Last month, Fort Bend Marshall won national titles in both relays at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor championship meet. At the state meet, they ensured they captured the team title with a win in  the 4x400 relay at the state meet.

With all of the state championships Banks is known to have helped lead his Marshall boys to, he actually won his first state championship as Assistant Girls coach at Houston Westbury in 2010 along with state runner-ups in 2013 and 2014 at Marshall.

The winners from each state are in consideration for the association's National High School Track & Field Coach of the Year award. One boys coach and one girls coach from among all the states will be selected by a panel of experts and those winners will be announced later this month.
