Gracie Morris and Graydon Morris have both verbally committed to the University of Texas. The two Aledo senior stars made it official today on their instagram posts.
With college offers galore, the two UIL 5A state champions have elected to stay in state and add to the outstanding recent Texas recruiting classes led by UT distance coaches Watson (Men's) and PattieSue Plummer (Women's).
Gracie Morris sat out over a year after suffering a navicular fracture in her foot, but returned last track season to finish fifth in the 1600m. This cross country season, she has already won several meets including the Marcus I Invitational and last week, she won her district with a 16:58 5K.
Graydon Morris was thought to be a Northern Arizona University (NAU) lean pledged his commitment to UT along with his twin sister.
He's won two straight UIL 5A state titles cross country, ran for a USA Track and Field Junior team and even tested himself at 8,000 meters this past fall, finishing seventh at the most recent USATF U20 Cross Country National Championships.
As for why they chose Texas, Gracie said, "The coaches and the team made them feel like they were part of the team from the very beginning."
Graydon had the same sentiments, but he also said, "The amazing opportunities the UT will bring," is also why he chose Texas.
