W2W4: What To Watch For At Spartan Invitational

Ashton Torns

The Austin Westlake freshman is just getting his track and field feet wet. He has dabbled in other sports specifically baseball and still a novice in football before getting some serious reps in the sport. He might have already found his niche.

Torns who ran indoors dabbled in the LJ (21-10), 100m (7.10), and the 200m (23.10), however in a couple of outdoor meets he dropped 10.84, 22.64, and 22-5.5. That was until this week at the Track is Back #1 meet earlier this week. Torns ran a 22.33 and then jumped a huge 23-11 in the long jump, which may now become his primary event.

Torns is entered in all three of the aforementioned events this weekend.

Charles Ross

The big boy jumps will also have some of the best jumpers in the nation competing. Charles Ross and Solomon Washington both had their seasons unfairly ended. Both gentlemen were having unreal 2020 outdoor seasons by dazzling us with their jumps.

The Georgetown East View junior had three meets where he jumped over 47 feet in the triple jump and then a 24-4.75 long jump to have him nationally ranked in both events.

Solomon Washington

Washington comes from an athletic family and one who has already shown their track and field abilities. The Round Rock Stony Point junior has been making the most of his opportunities in 2020 and  doing so in a big way.

His 50-8.5 was the best triple jump in the nation this year. He followed that up recently this week with a 24-0 long jump at the Track is Back #1 meet. By going over 47-10 indoors in three meets including a 23-0 long jump, Washington has proved he is a stud and you definitely want to watch out for him this weekend.
