Texans go 1-2 in 400 Hurdles

Kerron Clement and Brandon Johnson are the best juniors in the world. Kerron (LaPorte/Florida) and Brandon Johnson (West Orange Stark/UCLA) went 1-2 in the 400 Hurldes at the World Junior Championships in Grosseto, Italy. Kerron is a former 5A state champion in the 300H. He won the 400 Hudles NCAA championship this year as a freshman and now has World Champion in his resume. Kerron set a championship record with a time of 48.51. "I am just really excited about getting a gold medal. My race went well and I can\'t complain. It was windy and I did not let affect me. I did stutter step on one hurdle, when I heard Brandon (Johnson) coming up on my shoulders" stated Kerron.

Brandon Johnson ran a personal best of 48.62 for the silver. Brandon placed 3rd in the 300H at the State Meet in 2003. He also won the 400m in the same meet. Brandon had been looking strong all the way through the heats. He put it all together in the finals with a personal best time. "Today the race was easier for me because I let the race come to me. I got out pretty well since l\'ve been doing what I normally do and not think about hitting any hurdles. This is the greatest feeling since I did not get any further than PAC 10 (championships). This is also a PR so I am extremely excited about that as well" stated Brandon Johnson
