Judson Greer finishes the 3,200m in second place at the Sundown Track Series #2 in Arizona
Last week, Melissa senior Judson Greer did something very few Texas distance runners have ever done when he ran 4:11.74 in the one mile (4:10.06 1,600m conversion).
This week, he went from few in the mile distance to number two in the 3,200m distance. He travelled back out to Arizona, trading the cool and rainy/windy mix Texas forecast for a more calmer Arizona climate and it paid off.
The University of North Carolina signee ran 8:49.29 at the Sundown Track Series #2 for No. 2 All-Time for a Texas athlete. Cypress Woods' versatile star Craig Nowak ran 8:49.12 in 2012 over the eight lap distance and is the only Texan to run faster than Greer.
There are a couple of other runners who have bested the 8:50 barrier and two more who have run faster than Nowak and Greer in the longer 2 mile distance, but they all have had chances to still run the 3,200m and Greer is making a strong claim for himself on the Mount Rushmore of Texas high school distance runners.
